Where do I start?

I'm pretty fluent in ASP (have built many sites with Access and some code) and I work in a language called WebDNA (similar to ASP) at work. I bought a book called Programming ASP.Net by O'Reilly; however, it's just not what I'm looking for to get me off the ground. The only way I can learn ASP.Net is by doing it and not running through a small example for every web/server control out there. Don't get me wrong, I'm down with the literature because it's important to know what you're handling but often times, I get majorly discourage wading through the book and then just put it down. Can anyone offer an idea as to how I should approach learning this new language and technology?

Should I just think of a project and try to hammer it out and learn along the way (I think this may be the best thing to do)? Is there a resource center on the net somewhere with in depth tutorials with multiple steps resulting in a real world application?

Please help as I am eager to learn ASP.Net! Thank you.

JwYou might get this book - - I found it very helpful at first and even more, as I went along:

ASP.Net Unleashed

It goes through all the controls, with code for useage and that's just the start - - many more code samples throughout - - it's a big book!

Of course, there's the Quickstart tutorials (Tutorials tab above), as well as the Class Browser application in the Tutorials. oh - - and I should mentionASPNet101.com - - it's very good too!
;)

That should get you well started
You can find tutorial here, on www.gotdotnet.com, on www.www.4guysfromrolla.com, on www.dotnetjunkies.com.

Those are the one I use the most but there is tons of them
